What is Pediatric Care at Prairie Health & Wellness?
Pediatric care at Prairie Health & Wellness in Wichita, Kansas covers birth through high school graduation with an integrative, functional approach. Our providers hold fellowships from the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS), making PHW one of the few Midwest practices offering specialized care for Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, allergies, asthma, IBS, and PANS/PANDAS. We evaluate nutritional status, microbiome health, immune function, genetic influences, and environmental exposures to create individualized treatment plans.
Pediatrics
At Prairie Health and Wellness, we offer advanced pediatric care from birth through high school graduation. This includes well-child visits to support optimal growth and development, treatment of acute illness or injury, and treatment of chronic illness. Our care is individualized and customized to each child and family's unique needs. Parents and caregivers often have the best understanding of their child's healthcare needs. Our team works to collaborate, empower, and partner with parents in the care of their children.
Our Integrative Approach
Our integrative and functional approach includes considering a child's nutritional status, the health of the microbiome, immune function, genetic influences, environmental exposures, and emotional and psychological health. This approach relies on a detailed understanding of each child's unique biochemical, genetic, environmental, and social-emotional makeup. We rely on treatments that are evidence-based which means they have been studied and deemed both safe and effective.
Our treatments include using a variety of diagnostic and laboratory testing to identify the underlying causes of illness as well as utilizing nutritional supplements and pharmaceutical treatments when necessary. Prairie Health & Wellness also offers Chiropractic Services and MNRI Services. Both of these specialties have proven to be highly beneficial for our pediatric patients.
Pediatric Complex Care
Prairie Health & Wellness now has 2 members of our Provider Team who have completed their fellowship from the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS). This training will allow us to use our Functional & Evidence-Based Approach to improve the lives of children suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorders, Allergies, Asthma, ADHD, IBS, and PANS/PANDAS.
The core coursework in our training included Environmental Medicine, Neurology, Metabolism, Gastroenterology, Nutrition, Immunology, and Advanced Clinical Practice. We're extremely proud to be one of the few practices in the Midwest to offer this expertise.
